In the year 1978, the founder of Dyson UK was extremely frustrated with the diminishing performance of his vacuum cleaner. On ripping it apart, he understood that it was the bag of the vacuum cleaner that was main source of the problem. Clogging with dust, the bag reduced the suction capabilities of the vacuum cleaner. After the strenuous work of five years, he created 5,127 prototypes and that is how he finally came up with an idea of a vacuum cleaner. The first cleaner was sold off in Japan which is believed to be the home of high tech products. Labeled as the G-Force, the vacuum cleaner impressed the Japanese with its performance and soon became a status symbol selling about $ 2,000 pieces. Further in 1991, the product even won the International Design Fair Price in Japan.
Further from the royalties of the sales of the G-Force, the firm Dyson UK was set up. The firm initiated with the development of DC01 that could capture even the minutest dust particles. This vacuum cleaner maintained 100% of suction, 100% of time. Post the development and sales, the firm only grew progressively. Expanding from Malmesbury to Malaysia and Chicago to Singapore, Dyson UK now had teams across the world. Each of which contributed to the growth of the Dyson Group.
It invested in the purpose built motors facility in Singapore with the sole motto to manufacture precision based Dyson digital motor. This became the key technology and the heart of several other Dyson machines. With its headquarters in Malmesbury, England, the firm has a complete team of engineers that strive hard each day digging ways to make things work better.
Over the years, the engineers and the researchers refined the ideas multiple times. A lot of prototyping is done every day, till date to ensure that what reaches the customers is nothing short of perfection. All the machines of Dyson UK have structural integrity. They are lighter and stronger than the other contemporaries. It is courtesy the knowledge of geometry and the pioneering materials, that the engineers of the firm are better equipped to do more with less of everything – materials, weight and waste.
The firm also has a charitable organization by the name of James Dyson Foundation. Under this the firm supports, teachers and students by way of education programs, teaching materials and bursaries. It believes that engineers are the world’s biggest problem solvers and more of them are needed by them and the world around, hence the agenda of the Foundation is to serve the world with more and more engineers.
In order to encourage the next generation and inspire them to do better in the field of research and engineering, the firm gives away, ’The James Dyson Award’ annually. This international design award celebrates the work of the engineers and gives them global recognition. The award again is run by the James Dyson Foundation as a mission to inspire the young people to walk towards design engineering and fulfill the potential and become engineers.
Today the most notable products sold by Dyson UK include Vacuum cleaners, fans, heaters, lighting equipments, hand dryers, tools, etc. All of these are superior in quality and are available at the most competitive prices.
